The Institute for Gnostic Studies (Australasia) is a research and educational organisation established to study the Gnostic wisdom at the heart of all traditional religions and spiritual paths.
We are non-sectarian and emphasise a multi-disciplinarian approach.
The Greek term Gnosis indicated wisdom derived through intuition: a knowledge of the heart; as opposed to knowledge of theories or dogmas, be they religious or scientific.
Gnosticism contains similarities to some schools of Existentialism, to the Sufi path, Christian esotericism, and to various spiritual systems of Asia.
The ancient Gnostic texts comprise a rich legacy of myths and symbolism from Christian as well as Jewish, Pagan, Egyptian, Persian, Hermetic, and Neo-Platonic sources.
